Sinuses are the small cavities in the skull that are usually filled with air. Your sinuses produce mucus, this helps to keep the nasal passage free from allergens and pollutants. This sinusitis is mostly caused by bacterial infections that have been blocked and there is no free passage of air, then it forms to fungus infections.



There are two types of sinusitis. They are acute sinusitis (lasts for about 4 weeks) and chronic sinusitis (lasts for more than 12 months and continues for years). It causes pain and pressure as the swelling blocks off the sinuses, trapping mucus and air inside.

Cold and allergies are the main triggers that cause sinusitis. Congestion, facial pressure and pain, thick discolored mucus is some of the symptoms.
